Join our Road Maintenance Team for the 2024 Summer Season!

We are looking for individuals with a California Class B operator's license with a tanker endorsement to assist with road maintenance utilizing a variety of medium and heavy road maintenance equipment! This critical role will assist with minor road repairs, brush clearing, traffic control and other duties as assigned.

PROOF OF VALID CLASS B OPERATOR'S LICENSE ISSUED BY A STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION.

Ideal candidates will have:
Knowledge of:

  • Safe work practices
  • Geography and road names of a Nevada County road maintenance district
  • Methods, procedures, tools and materials used in the repair and maintenance of roads
  • Provisions of the California Vehicle Code and safety practices and procedures relating to the operation of medium and heavy road maintenance equipment on streets and roads Skills in:
    • Learning to maintain and make minor repairs on roads
    • Performing physical labor requiring strength, manual dexterity, and agility
    • Understanding and carry out oral and written instructions
    • Reading and comprehending equipment operation manuals, performance standards and job instructions
    • Writing and completing vehicle accident, industrial injury, and safety inspection reports

      Sick Leave:

      Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.

      Medical Benefits:

      Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.
