Job Description:

Purpose:
The Sales Specialist, Multicultural is a nationally focused sales position responsible for sales growth in assigned sales territory respective to multicultural products and programs.
Multicultural includes authentic Hispanic, Asian, and other international products.
This role will collaborate with regional sales and merchandising as needed for the growth of multicultural programs within targeted accounts.
Additionally, this role will act as the multicultural product and program expert for the Region Sales teams.Job Responsibilities: ---
Responsible for annual sales and profit targets for assigned accounts and sales territory. ---
Partners and collaborates with Region Sales Account Manager and Sales Directors/Managers as the Multi-cultural expert for key accounts and assigned sales territory. ---
Monitors progress, and performance of multi-cultural programs to ensure expected outcomes are achieved.
If off track to achieve sales targets works with the Merchandising multi-cultural leads and Directors to modify and adapt programs to drive expected results. ---
Establishes and maintains a regular schedule of sales calls to assigned accounts.
These calls can be in person or virtual depending on business needs and customer engagement. ---
Seeks early adoption of new products and new programs with key accounts.
Provides specific retailer and competitive feedback to the regional merchandising team if there are barriers to selling new products and programs. ---
With partnership from the Sales team, develop and use blue sheets and other strategic account management tools to close larger sales opportunities with key accounts. ---
Monitor competitors in assigned territory and bring competitive insight for pricing, programs, and assortment back to Region Merchandising and National Director.
Attends international multi-cultural focused shows, supplier meetings, and UNFI selling shows as appropriate. ---
Serves as the link between Key Accounts and UNFI Merchandising.
Work collaboratively with the Account Manager to bring key account insight and opportunities back to Region Merchandising and National Merchandising Director.
Presents new programs and sales-related opportunities to the sales team as needed during Power Station calls and other regional sales calls. ---
Personal and Professional Development.
Attend sales training sessions with the Sales team as assigned.
Use all-new tools and the strategic selling approach as rolled out in training.
Gain knowledge and additional skills as appropriate. ---
Performs other relevant job duties as required.Job Requirements: Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience: ---
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
---
0-3 years of retail sales or merchandising experience required. ---
Retail/Wholesale experience required. ---
Merchandising, category management, and/or sales experience preferred. ---
Multi-cultural category/brand experience preferred. Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: ---
Strong knowledge base in supermarket retail and an understanding of consumer behavior. ---
Familiar with wholesale operations, supplier relationships, and merchandising techniques. ---
Must have strong relationship-building and customer service skills. ---
Ability to sell in a consultative manner. ---
Analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in taking initiative and making decisions to address the customer's concern while also ensuring positive sales and gross profit margin. ---
Must be able to adapt to competitor and/or market shifts, learn/adapt quickly to changes, and work collaboratively to meet sales targets. ---
Able to understand market positioning and learn the products, and brands that are key to ethnic focus retailers across the U.S. ---
Ability to work cross-functionally with different internal departments. ---
Able to track multiple initiatives, evaluate results, and adjust approaches as needed to achieve sales targets. ---
Excellent oral and written communication skills. ---
Proficiency with computer systems and applications (especially Word, Excel, and Basic Access essential). ---
